FAQs

Grants may take the form of a one-time payment or may cover a period of up to three months of care. 

If you need assistance completing the application, you may call on the person who holds your legal power of attorney to fill it out for you. If you ask someone else to help with the application, we will need your call 816-759-5450 and a grant administrator can help you over the phone to get the application completed. In general we prefer you, or a person who holds your legal power of attorney, fill out the form. If you ask for someone else to help with the application, we will need documentation showing your authorization for the person to to represent you in the application process.

Individuals who reside in the United States, are actively working for healing in Christian Science, need Christian Science nursing care, and are unable to pay the full cost of this care.

 

We will need your contact information, an understanding of your current reliance on Christian Science, and your financial information, including a copy of your most recent tax return. We will let you know if any further information is needed. All information we receive is kept strictly confidential.

Yes. If you are approved for a grant, we can give you an up-to amount, and then wait to hear back how much insurance will pay. In general, NFCSN pays toward the balance of the costs after we know the amount insurance will cover.

Yes. The grant can help pay toward care provided by a Journal-listed Christian Science nurse or a Christian Science nursing organization that provides full oversight and supervision of any non-Journal-listed Christian Science nurses working on your case.

No. NFCSN grants cover only a portion of the total care costs.

No. Grants may be applied only toward unpaid Christian Science nursing invoices.

If you are continuing to work for and expect healing, and you need assistance with care costs that extend beyond the original grant period, you may request a renewal of your grant.

NFCSN only provides grants to residents of the United States. However, the International Fund for Christian Science Nursing, provides financial support to individuals residing in other parts of the world who have chosen the care of a Christian Science nurse and need  assistance to cover the cost of that care. Our grants are supplemental to European-based grants already paid. IFCSN is currently welcoming applications for financial assistance from residents of Canada and Europe (including Switzerland and the UK). Eventually it will open to other regions of the world.

We require that the patient or an authorized representative fill out the application. In the event that this is not possible, please call us to discuss the situation at 816-759-5450 .

You should submit your invoice to the patient. The patient should then review the invoice, approve it, and forward it to us.

Invoices submitted to NFCSN should include your contact information, the patient’s name and care location, an itemized list of all charges to the patient, dates and hours of care, your hourly or daily rate for care, any benevolence amounts you are granting, and the grand total owed by the patient for the month.. We prefer to send your payments directly to your bank account by direct deposit. We can also mail you a check. Or you may fill out an online form that will allow you to securely submit your payment preference to NFCSN.

NFCSN can pay toward practitioner invoices for patients who are currently NFCSN grant recipients. If a patient who does not have a grant from NFCSN needs help paying for Christian Science practitioner invoices, the patient may contact The Principle Foundation.

Yes. Patients with a grant from NFCSN will need you to provide them with a monthly invoice that they can then submit to NFCSN for payment.
