A group of Christian Scientists looking to expand the availability of Christian Science Nursing initiated the idea of a National Fund in support of Christian Science nursing. This group, The Philanthropy Forum for Christian Science Nursing, asked The Principle Foundation to include the fund in its organization and operation.

The NFCSN is a restricted fund within The Principle Foundation organization. Separate policies are in place for the use and administration of this fund. The NFCSN is overseen by the same board that governs The Principle Foundation and NFCSN operations are conducted by The Principle Foundation staff.
