We will let you know if any further information is needed. All information we receive is always kept confidential.
Individuals are eligible who reside in the US or one of its territories, who are receiving treatment from a Christian Science practitioner, and need Christian Science nursing care.
Yes. If you are approved for a grant, we can give you an up-to amount, and then wait to hear back how much insurance will pay. In general, the NFCSN pays after we know the amount insurance will cover.
By law, a nursing facility cannot bill you for your care in a month where the cost of that care is being reimbursed by Medicaid (or Medi-Cal in California). That being the case, we cannot offer you a grant if you are being reimbursed by Medicaid (or Medi-Cal in California). We could offer assistance on Christian Science practitioner charges.
Yes, you can apply to the fund. We may be able to help with some costs that you incur as a Medicare patient. However, there are federal regulations that come into play when you use Medicare. You should give us a call to see how we might help in your particular situation.
Most Christian Science nurses and facilities will only work with a patient who is receiving treatment from a Journal-listed Christian Science practitioner. This is our preference as well.
We ask that you be receiving care from a practicing Christian Science nurse, as defined in the Manual by-law (which includes a requirement that the Christian Science nurse be a member of The Mother Church.) However, the Christian Science nurse does not need to be Journal-listed.
We are always expectant of healing, but if you need further assistance, there is a short renewal form you can fill out. You do not need to fill out the original application again.
In general we prefer you or a legal power of attorney fill out the form. If someone else needs to act as a personal representative for the patient, we will need appropriate documentation.
This is a patient-centered fund, so in general we would asked that the patient or an authorized representative fill out the application. In the event that this is not possible, please call us to discuss the situation at 816-561-5955.

The focus of the NFCSN is give financial assistance to patients receiving Christian Science nursing care. The NFCSN can only reimburse practitioner invoices for a patient who is currently receiving help from a Christian Science nurse. If a patient needs help paying for other Christian Science practitioner invoices, please have the patient contact The Principle Foundation.
For reporting and audit purposes, The Principle Foundation requires an invoice in order to make payment. Please include your daily or per treatment fee and a total sum for the amount of work you did for the patient that month.
